Ingredients

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, add instant rice, semolina, yogurt, and water. Mix well to form a smooth batter.
  2. Add baking soda and salt to the batter and mix well.
  3. In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, chana dal, and asafoetida. Fry for a few seconds.
  4. Add green chili and fry for a few more seconds.
  5. Add the tempering to the batter and mix well.
  6. Add coriander leaves and mix well.
  7. Grease the idli plates with oil and pour the batter into the plates.
  8. Steam the idlis for 10-12 minutes or until they are cooked through.
  9. Remove the idli plates from the steamer and let them cool for a few minutes.
  10. Remove the idlis from the plates using a knife or spoon and serve hot with chutney or sambar.
