To make Indian Sticky Rice, you will need the following ingredients:- 2 cups of Basmati Rice
- 1 can of Coconut Milk
- 1 ½ cups of Water
- 1 tsp of Salt
- 1 tsp of Cumin Seeds
- 1 tsp of Mustard Seeds
- 1 tsp of Turmeric Powder
- 2 tbsp of Oil
- 1 Onion, chopped
- 2 cloves of Garlic, minced
- 1 inch of Ginger, grated
- 1 Green Chili, chopped
- 1 tbsp of Lemon Juice
- 2 tbsp of Cilantro, chopped
Equipment
To make Indian Sticky Rice, you will need the following equipment:- A large pot with a tight-fitting lid
- A wooden spoon
- A measuring cup
- A knife
- A cutting board
Method
1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. 2. In a large pot, heat the oil over medium heat. 3. Add the cumin seeds and mustard seeds and cook until they start to pop. 4. Add the chopped onion, garlic, ginger, and green chili and cook until the onion is soft. 5. Add the turmeric powder and stir well. 6. Add the rice and stir to coat it in the spice mixture. 7. Add the coconut milk, water, and salt and stir well. 8. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with the lid. 9. Cook the rice for 18-20 minutes, or until all the liquid has been absorbed and the rice is tender. 10. Remove the pot from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes. 11. Fluff the rice with a fork and add the lemon juice and chopped cilantro. 12. Serve hot and enjoy!Notes
