Ingredients

- 1 cup of long-grain white rice - 1 cup of vermicelli noodles, broken into small pieces - 2 tablespoons of olive oil - 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter - 1 small onion, diced - 2 cloves of garlic, minced - 2 cups of chicken broth - 1 cup of water - 1 teaspoon of salt - 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon of paprika - 1/4 teaspoon of dried thyme - 1/4 teaspoon of dried basil

Method

1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium-high heat. 2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and saute until they are translucent. 3. Add the broken vermicelli noodles to the skillet and stir until they are lightly browned. 4. Add the long-grain white rice to the skillet and stir until it is coated with the oil and butter mixture. 5. Add the chicken broth, water, salt, black pepper, paprika, dried thyme, and dried basil to the skillet. 6. Stir everything together until well combined. 7. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the skillet with a lid. 8. Simmer for around 20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed. 9. Remove the skillet from the heat and let it sit for 5 minutes. 10. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.

Notes

This recipe is very versatile, and you can easily swap out the chicken broth for vegetable broth or beef broth if you prefer. You can also add in some diced carrots, peas, or bell peppers to make it even more nutritious.
