Method

  4. Knead the dough well until it becomes soft and smooth.
  5. Divide the dough into small portions and put it in the idiyappam press.
  6. Press the dough through the idiyappam press onto idli plates or banana leaves.
  7. Steam the idiyappam for 10-15 minutes or until it is cooked well.
  8. Serve hot with coconut chutney or vegetable stew.

  • If you do not have an idiyappam press, you can use a murukku press or a chakli press as an alternative.
