Cook Time

The cook time for this dish is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of basmati rice
  • 4 cups of water
  • 1 teaspoon of salt

  12. Remove the lid and use a spatula to gently transfer the crispy rice from the bottom of the pot to a serving dish.
  13. Serve the rice with the fried onions on top and a side of yogurt or salad.

  • Do not stir the rice while it is cooking, as this can cause it to become mushy.
  • For a vegetarian version, use vegetable broth instead of water.
