Description

Halloween is a time for treats and spooky desserts. Why not add a twist to a classic dessert by using Rice Krispies and making it into fun Halloween shapes? Rice Krispies treats are a crowd-pleaser and can be easily customized for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 package of marshmallows
  • Assorted food coloring (orange, green, purple)
  • Assorted Halloween candies (candy eyes, gummy worms, candy corn)

Equipment

  • Large saucepan
  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wooden spoon
  • Cookie cutters in Halloween shapes (optional)

Method

  1. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  3. Add the marshmallows to the saucepan and stir until fully melted and combined with the butter.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add in the food coloring, stirring until the mixture is evenly colored.
  5. Add the Rice Krispies cereal to the saucepan and stir until fully coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the greased baking dish and press down with a spoon or spatula to ensure it is even.
  7. Decorate the Rice Krispies treats with the Halloween candies, pressing them down lightly into the mixture.
  8. Allow the treats to cool and set for at least 30 minutes before cutting into desired shapes.
  9. If using cookie cutters, press them into the treats and remove the excess around the edges.
  10. Transfer the treats to a serving plate and enjoy!

Notes

For a more gooey and chewy texture, use mini marshmallows instead of regular marshmallows. Also, feel free to add additional food coloring or decorations to customize the treats to your liking.
