- 1 cup rice
- 1 cup jaggery (gur)
- 4 cups milk
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4-5 green cardamom pods
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg powder
- 1/4 tsp saffron strands
- 2 tbsp ghee
- Almonds and pistachios for garnish

Method
- Wash the rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
- Grate the jaggery and set it aside.
- In a large pot, heat ghee and add cinnamon stick and cardamom pods.
- Drain the water from the soaked rice and add it to the pot.
- Stir the rice and let it cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add milk and stir well.
- Bring the milk to a boil and then reduce the heat to low.
- Add grated jaggery, nutmeg powder, and saffron strands.
- Stir well and cover the pot with a lid.
- Cook the rice on low heat for 30-35 minutes or until the rice is fully cooked and the milk has thickened.
- Garnish with almonds and pistachios.
- Serve hot or cold.
Notes
Make sure to soak the rice before cooking it. This will help to ensure that the rice cooks evenly and becomes tender. If you prefer a thicker consistency, you can add less milk or cook the rice for a longer period of time.
